The MAX-AIR rack & pinion pneumatic actuators produces linear torque output in a compact design utilizing the same body and end caps for double acting and spring return units.

Extruded aluminum body is internally machined and lapped to exact specifications. All internal and external surfaces are anodized for corrosion resistance.

Die-cast aluminum end caps and pistons are epoxy powder coated for corrosion resistance in the UT-21 and larger models. Corrosion resistant techno-polymer end caps and epoxy coated aluminum pistons are supplied in the UT-16 units.

The "patent pending" bottom plate design, unique to MAX-AIR, secures a captive pinion and permits flexibility in mounting by retaining nuts or bolts in either dual ISO patterns, or to customer dimensions.

The pinion teeth are engaged the full length and stroke of the piston. The pinion height allows manual override without disturbing the position indication.

All pinions are supplied with anti-blowout retention in both directions.

The female pinion drive is standard with a double square output drive, and optional with a double-D drive, keyed drive and designs to meet your specific requirements.

Epoxy coated special steel springs are pre-loaded with non-metallic materials. The stainless steel end cap fasteners are extra long to allow for spring relaxation. All parts are corrosion resistant.

Pistons incorporate double wear pads to separate the rack from the actuator wall and serve as both guide and wear bearings.

Spring cartridges:
Springs are carbon steel and coated for corrosion resistance. Spring guides are corrosion resistant techno-polymer.

Standard ASTM A314 (303) stainless steel thru UT21 size, carbon steel/electroless nickel coated for UT31 and larger sizes (stainless steel available on request as option)

Shaft bearings isolate the pinion gear from the housing and support the shaft for high cycle applications. Many competitive manufacturers do not provide this critical feature.

Travel stop with plus or minus 10° in both open and close directions have machined grooves for retention of the internal O-ring seals.

Air pressure operation from 40 to 150 PSI. Water, nitrogen and compatible hydraulic fluids may also be used to power the actuator.

Namur VDI/VDE 3845 and ISO 5211 dimensions on all sizes. No special blocks are required to mount solenoid valves, limit switches or positioners.

Temperature range from -10°F to 176°F with standard Buna-N nitrile seals. Higher temperatures with optional Viton seals and techno-polymer piston guides and bearings (250°F continuous and 300°F cyclic). Lower temperatures available with silicone seals (-55°F).

The standard angle of rotation is 90°. Additional travel rotations of 120°, 135°, 150° and 180° are available, with the standard plus or minus 10° adjustment in both directions.

For 3-way valves with zero, 90° and 180° requirements, MAX-AIR offers 90+90 units with spring return. Special 3-way solenoid valve required.

All units are permanently lubricated at the factory with non-silicone grease.

External open/close indicator as standard.

All external fasteners are corrosion resistant stainless steel.

All units are eternally stamped with a progressive traceable serial number.

100% of all units are factor pressure and leak tested, and individually boxed for shipping.
